8-10 Neighborhoods = 1 “Community“
How many neighborhoods are there in Minneapolis?
According to the City (and likely most area Realtors), just under 100. See map, below right.
However, that’s too unwieldy for consumers.
So, to make MLS more user-friendly, the local MLS just added a new field called “Minneapolis Community search box,” with the 11 choices above.
Home Search Criteria
Is that an improvement?
Yes, provided that you already know — to pick just one example — that popular Minneapolis neighborhoods like Linden Hills, Fulton, and Lynnhurst are all part of “Southwest.”
P.S.: My hunch is that most Realtors (myself included) skip such features, and simply use MLS’s custom mapping feature, which has been available for years.
