north loop

“West of FIrst Avenue DOwntown”

“Twin Cities Apartment Developers Offer Amenities for Fido.”

Star Tribune (2/7/14)

Manhattan has Soho — short for, “SOuth of HOuston Street” (not to mention Tribeca, Nolita, etc.).

There’s the “Dumbo” neighborhood in Brooklyn (“DOwn Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”).

Even Denver has a hip, “truncated/acronym” neighborhood:  “LoDo,” short for LOwer DOwntown.

Just West of Up-and-Coming “ROVER”

So naturally, my first thought when I saw the Star Tribune headline above was that someone was floating a new name for the “North Loop,” one of Minneapolis’ hottest downtown neighborhoods.

Nope.

They were . . .  um, referring to man’s best friend.

P.S.:  Looking for the Twin Cities’ biggest off-leash dog park? (unofficially, that is, and only in the Winter).

See, “Thinking Outside the Box Inside the Circle.”
