Going through a 1940’s Lake Nokomis home this week, my Buyer spotted something upstairs that raised her (and then my) eyebrows: the floor tiles didn’t match in a couple of places.
Especially if the home has an older roof, that can be a sign of previous leaking directly above the affected areas.
In this case, though, the ceiling showed no signs of staining, and the home overall seemed to be in (very) good repair.
The explanation? (quickly provided by the conscientious owner).
A few tiles had warped decades ago, and the owner couldn’t find an exact match.
P.S.: Minnesota’s low, winter-time humidity is a common culprit for such warping. And old tiles are notoriously hard to match.
