What’s the Listing Agent’s Defense If There’s a Security Issue?

If you had a briefcase — does anyone anymore?? — you probably wouldn’t walk around with the latch code set to “0-0-0-0” (the factory setting).

lockboxSo, it’s always a bit of a head scratcher as a Buyer’s agent to request a home showing, then receive showing instructions including the manual lockbox code, “S-P-I.”

That’s the pre-set factory combination, most likely short for “S-P-I-N.”

Of course, the best combination of all is no combination.

That is, to use an electronic (vs. mechanical) lockbox that can only be opened by a licensed Realtor’s smart key.
