Tough Crowd (& Not Very Hungry*)
At least in the Twin Cities, Realtors traditionally debut their new listings on Broker Tour, held each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To get their fellow agents to come, the listing (host) agent will often offer food, prizes or other goodies like gas cards or restaurant vouchers.
You know it’s a hard sell when the dialogue between the listing agent — plugging her open this am — and the rest of the agents goes something like this:
Listing agent: I’ll be on tour at 123 Maple Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. It’s a gorgeous house with a brand new Kitchen, four Bedrooms on one level, and updated mechanicals. I’ll have soup, sandwiches, and breadsticks.
Agent #1: What kind of soup?
Agent #2: What kind of sandwiches?
Agent #3: What kind of breadsticks?
Just one little confession: I was Agent #3 (I couldn’t resist — and had already seen the home when it was previously listed with another Broker).
*Thanks to a very nice breakfast spread at the weekly office meeting, the first of 2016!
