3,000 Bonus Points vs. $60

Quick!

Which sounds more valuable?

Sixty dollars, or 3,000 bonus points?

If you guessed the latter, you’d have lots of company — and be flat wrong (at least, according to the terms of a year-end credit card promotion I just received).

Conversion Confusion

Assuming 15,000 points converts into a $300 round-trip plane fare, 3k points = $60.

No doubt that’s why a slew of year-end credit card promotions are all touting all the points you can rack up using their card, vs. how much money you’ll earn in bonuses.

P.S.:  Best deal I’ve seen lately is Great Clips’ $10 pre-paid haircut, an almost 30% savings from the $14 regular price.
