Janet Yellen Playing Ben Bernanke’s Favorite Tune

Maybe, someday
Saved by zero
I’ll be more together
Stretched by fewer

Thoughts that leave me
Chasing after
My dreams disown me
Loaded with danger

Maybe I’ll win
Saved by Zero

Holding onto
Words that teach me
I will conquer
Space around me

Maybe I’ll win
Saved by zero
Maybe I’ll win
Saved by zero

—Lyrics, “Saved by Zero”; The Fixx

Judging by this week’s stock market action (up), what was to have been the day month of reckoning for continued zero percent interest rates (“ZIRP”) — now, incredibly, in their 8th(!) year — will be deferred yet again.

If and when the Fed’s monetary medicine actually starts to work, it’ll be time for another song by The Fixx: “One Thing Leads to Another.”
