Travail

Marketing Plan:  Word of Mouth (Literally)

What’s missing in the photo of super-popular Robbinsdale eatery Travail (above)?

Any mention of the name, “Travail” — or any signage at all, for that matter.

That hasn’t kept it from attracting nightly crowds and a long list of local fans.

Mother’s Day Reservations — and Open Houses

Don’t bother trying to reserve a table at Travail for Mother’s Day:  it’s not open.

When I stopped by during the week to inquire (and interrupted a staff meeting), the employees spontaneously protested, “We have Mothers, too!”

So do home buyers and sellers — and their agents.

Which is why Mother’s Day is usually a “pass” for open houses.

P.S.:  When I do finally get in to Travail, I plan to ask why the owner(s) picked a name that’s a synonym for “agony” or “torment.”
