Saturday Night at Sebastian Joe’s (For a Little While)

Once upon a time, there used to be a couple spots for ice cream in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood.

joeNow, it seems there’s just one:  Minneapolis quasi-institution Sebastian Joe’s, just west of Franklin and Hennepin (personal favorite:  “Nicollet Avenue Pothole”).

Or, at least it seemed that way earlier tonight, with a line I’d conservatively estimate at 50(!) people long (that tiny white board in the center of the photo is the ice cream menu).

Plan B

Not wanting to waste the gorgeous evening inside, my sons and I biked south on Hennepin, where we bought (packaged) ice cream from Lund’s frozen food case.

Cost for 3 ice cream bars:  $4.

As an added side benefit, we enjoyed the outside patio just to the north of the store, and the balmy evening breeze.
