Advertising Arbitrage

I couldn’t be happier with Google’s search software:  type in “Twin Cities Real Estate Blog,” and this site consistently pops up as #1 (by the way, that’s also the result on Bing, Yahoo!, and AOL).

On the other hand, I’m a less-than-happy user of Google’s advertising software, called “Adsense.”

googleGoogle pays me something like .00001¢ per user “click-thru” on ads it places on my blog.

Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure it charges advertisers a bit more for each click-thru — call it .001¢.

That infinitesimal difference may not sound like much, but multiply it by billions of Internet searches and thousands (tens of thousands?) of advertisers, and you’ve got quite the business model.

Or so the stock market seems to think:  Google’s current market cap is almost $300(!) billion!

Wanted!  Local Advertisers

The foregoing math may be attractive to Google management and shareholders.

your adHowever, suffice to say it’s underwhelming (to say the least) to bloggers such as myself.

So, I’m going to migrate away from Google Adsense in favor of my own ads.

If you’re a Twin Cities home inspector, builder, remodeler, lender, etc. and want exposure on the Twin Cities #1 real estate blog . . . give me a holler.

The rate won’t be .0001¢ — but it’ll still be a lot less than Google charges to reach the same audience.
