“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

—Mark Twain

Once upon a time, unscrupulous people were said to “push” or “peddle” lies.

In an era of ubiquitous fake news, apparently that’s not energetic enough.

Now, if a lie is to get anywhere (never mind “around the world”), apparently it needs to be actively pedaled.**

**I’ve seen numerous news media confuse the two words the last six months or so.
