Putting Starbucks to Shame

“Starbucks is Expanding Its ‘Reserve’ Brand Amid Super-Premium Coffee War.”

–Fortune magazine

Starbucks has nothing on Linden Hills’ Coffee & Tea Ltd.

While the ubiquitous Seattle-based company plans to roll out a new chain of high-end coffee bars, Coffee & Tea Ltd. has long sold an exotic type of coffee bean, “kopi luwak,” that fetches a whopping $420 a pound.

That translates to $10 per eight ounce cup.

Personally, I prefer the Italian Roast for only $17/lb. . .

P.S.:  What makes the bean so expensive is the — shall we say — circuitous route it travels through civet cats (translation:  it’s collected by hand from their droppings).
