10¢ x 2 x 20 Gallons = Real Money

When gas hit $4 a gallon (and kept going) in 2013, it was hard to get excited about coupons offering 5¢ off a gallon.

double couponsSorry, not worth the time or effort.

Fast forward to this Fall, when regular unleaded in the Twin Cities is approaching $2 a gallon (again).

Careful shoppers (I am) will realize that 10¢ off/gallon, doubled (as one local station does on Tuesdays) suddenly adds up to a nice discount on a tank of gas, at least percentage-wise.

P.S.:  The trick is not to bundle the cheap item with an overpriced one, negating (and then some) the bargain.

Exhibit A:  deluxe (and very full-price) car washes.
