There Oughta Be a Name For That: “The Running Groom” & Other Unfortunate Web Mashups

“Think About It” . . . “Running Room” . . . “Investors Exchange”

What do the three names (above) have in common?

Just this:  they’re all real-life organizations whose titles make for (very) unfortunate URL’s (Website names).

Running_GroomTo pick just one example:  “Running Room” merges into something that could easily be read as “Running Groom.”

A very different image, I’m sure we’ll all agree.

Unfortunately, “unintended salaciousness” seems to describe the vast majority of these . . . situations.

In the case of “Investors Exchange,” the URL was so ghastly that the organization actually changed its name, to “IEX.”
