“Eat Street South”

The stretch of Nicollet Avenue north of Lake Street — between Franklin & 29th Street — gets more acclaim as a food destination.

holaBut, its counterpart on the south side of Lake Street is the real surprise.

Butcher, Baker and Candlestick Maker Coffee Shops

The intersection at 38th & Nicollet now has several interesting, ethnic restaurants, plus a new butcher, baker, and coffee shops.

Just to the north (between 35th and 36th) is another cluster of interesting, new eateries.

Food Truck Start

I met friends at one of them, Hola Arepa, for lunch today.

If you can’t read the fine print in their sign (above), it says “started from a food truck, now we[‘re] here.”

P.S.:  Minneapolis old-timers (I qualify) will recognize the site as a converted gas station.
