Promoting Good Realtor Karma

Why go to a home on tour that you don’t have a Buyer for, in a part of town you don’t normally work, on a day when quid proyou’ve got 17 other things to get to?  (And no, there’s not a deluxe lunch waiting there, at least as far as I know).

Because the agent hosting the Realtor open (and listing the house) religiously attends MY Broker Open’s — and I’m returning the favor.

Quid Pro Quo, or Giving to Get

As the host (many times) of my own clients’ homes on Tour (held every Tuesday in the Twin Cities from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.), I know that a good turnout is always appreciated — both by the hosting agent and their client.

Ditto for objective feedback about the home, its list price, and any other salient input — assuming the visiting agent is qualified to give it.

The same dynamic is very much at play regarding showing feedback, where Buyers’ agents take a few minutes to provide constructive criticism on homes listed by their colleagues, with the expectation that their colleagues will do likewise for them.

P.S.:  If you liked the first sentence of this post, you’ll love this line by Winston Churchill:  ‘ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.”
