Finding “The One”

“If you’re looking for a high-rise condo, we won’t show you a house in the suburbs.”

–Radio ad, “It’s Just Lunch” dating service

For years, my clients have heard me compare house-hunting to dating.

Example:  if you are still ambivalent about a home after viewing it three (or more) times . . . perhaps it’s just not “the one.”

So, I guess it was just a matter of time before matchmaking services compared their role to Realtors’.

Weighing a Fixer-Upper

Later in the ad excerpted above, the female narrator goes on to warn about being seduced by “curb appeal,” being wary of homes with “bad foundations,” and “looking for a home in the right neighborhood.”

Exactly.

That is, minus the inference about steering, which is illegal for Realtors to do.

Which just leaves me wondering:  what’s the dating equivalent of a foreclosure?
