Where Are Interest Rates Headed in 2014?
There’s no mileage in being contrarian just for the sake of being contrarian.
But, it’s uncanny — at least to me — how often conventional wisdom has a way being foiled.
In that regard . . . there certainly seems to be a broad consensus at the moment that interest rates near the end of 2014 will be significantly higher than where they are now (low-to-mid 4% for a 30-year mortgage).
The range I’ve heard thrown around most often is high 4% to low 5%.
Contrarian bets, anyone??
P.S.: What could cause rates to dive again?
A weaker than expected economy, met by more stimulus from new Fed Chair Janet Yellen.
