“Cold Enough For ‘Ya?,” or “Go West North, Young Man”

I’m sure that other people have their own preferred definitions of what constitutes a “true Minnesotan” (Growing up knowing how to sheetrock?  Ice skating before you could walk?).

But here’s mine: “A true Minnesotan is someone who heads north, not south, whenever they have vacation or a 3-day weekend in the Winter.”

Like, President’s Day Weekend.

45° Below Windchill

Of course, the especially arctic temps this year might test that theory.

The forecasted low tonight in the Twin Cities is a sobering -25° below.

However, compared to further north, that’s positively balmy:  Hibbing is supposed to be minus 40° below tonight — never mind the windchill . . .

P.S.: Regardless of the temps, the only proper Minnesotan response to “Cold enough ‘fer ‘ya?” is a stoic “Nope.”
