Is a building that — at least from some angles — actually appears to be listing a good symbol for a major, modern corporation?
The more so for a financial institution — arguably, the key financial institution for Western Europe — and the rudder of a highly leveraged financial system whose one commercial product (a currency, the euro) critically depends on its stewards’ judgment and competence . . . and the perception of same.

Of course, that would be the European Central Bank, whose headquarters (top photo) is a new $1.4 billion “two buildings-in-one” edifice in Frankfort about a mile east of the central business district.
By contrast, on this side of the pond (as they say), the Fed Reserve’s august, classically designed headquarters in Washington (above, left) inspires the appropriate blend of temple-like awe and reverence.
