“Relationship Shorthand”

What’s the opposite of “guilt by association?”

statue“Honor by association.”

How does that play out in residential real estate?

When, as a listing agent (representing the Seller), the Buyer’s agent, lender, inspector, and title company all check out with flying colors . . . it’s highly likely that the Buyer ultimately will, too.

Of course, the listing agent has to be established enough to know the reputations of the Buyer’s agent, lender, inspector, etc.  😉

P.S.:  Good character and references are a great start — but, the terms of the contract count, too:  think of it as the legal corollary to “good fences makes good neighbors.”

Ditto for a generous earnest money check.
