Along with rolling out a new, national real estate brand (“Berkshire”), Edina Realty’s (grand)parent company, Berkshire Hathaway, is taking steps to unlock synergies between its various sibling companies.
Exhibit A: Edina Realty clients now qualify for 10% off carpet purchased from another Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, Shaw/Carpet One Floor & Home.
The discount is worth up to $1,000 on a $10,000 purchase.
Given the other retail companies in Berkshire’s stable (Borsheim’s Fine Jewelry, Dairy Queen, See’s Candy, etc.), this development could have some legs . . .
Real Estate Tie-in’s
Besides Shaw, the Berkshire subsidiaries with the most synergy with residential real estate would seem to be Benjamin Moore (paint) and Cort Business Services (furniture rental).
That’s in addition to Edina Realty siblings Edina Realty Mortgage, Edina Realty Title, and Edina Realty Insurance.
Of course, another Berkshire subsidiary, Clayton Homes, is the nation’s leading seller of manufactured housing.
