“Two Strikes and You’re Out”

I just heard through the grapevine that a certain Twin Cities builder is now working with their third Realtor in four years (note:  builders sometimes engage Realtors — occasionally on an exclusive basis — to rep their new homes).

two strikesI’ve worked with both previous Realtors on past deals, and found them to be skilled, professional, and honest.

Ergo, the problem is with the builder.

That’s enough for me (and my clients) to avoid them . . .

No Red Flags

Once upon a time, prospective clients (and their agents) interested in a builder’s reputation could check the MN Department of Commerce website,  the MN Attorney General’s website, etc. to look for “red flags.”

No more, at least in my experience — at least beyond checking for a valid state license, which signifies little.

When builders (or other contractors) get sued and settle now, one of the terms of the settlement is typically a confidentiality agreement.
