Knowing What You Don’t Know (But Enough to Ask an Expert)

“You can pay me now, or you can pay me later.”

–old Midas muffler commercial.

You might guess that, as a former corporate attorney, I seldom call Edina Realty’s (excellent) legal department with questions.

preventionWrong.

And it’s hardly because me or my clients are somehow “pushing the (legal) envelope” or otherwise behaving badly.

On the contrary.

Issue Spotting

Rather, I attribute my regular contact with Edina Legal to two things:  1) because of my legal training, I’m better at anticipating potential legal issues than most Realtors are; and 2) because of my legal training — plus the fact that I haven’t practiced law in some 20+ years — I know when to ask the legal experts.

Fortunately for clients of Edina Realty . . . it’s free.

In fact, that kind of superior, across-the-board support is why I’m an Edina agent.

P.S.:  Of course, there are two kinds of agents who call Legal:  those who call Legal before they have a problem, and those who call after.
