I Think That’s Called “Curating” (How About “Meta-Blogging?”)

As pet peeves go, it’s certainly minor.

complaintAnd people — bloggers — are certainly free to write, post, or link to anything they wish (subject to little things like copyright).

But I do notice a trend afoot in the so-called blogosphere to substitute other people’s writing for one’s own.

That’s not really blogging, in my opinion.

Using Other People’s Money Content

In fact, simply amassing links to pre-screened and recommended posts is known as “curating” (I can think of other, less flattering terms, such as recycling other people’s content, using derivative content, etc.).

I suppose if there were no such thing as bookmarks, I’d find that valuable, but I think most avid online readers are now pretty adept at finding their own content, favorite writers, etc.

My 2¢ . . .

P.S.:  And yes, blogging does take time, can be hard work, etc.  That’s why 99.8% of all Realtors don’t do it.
