In my experience, most Realtors work (extremely) hard for their clients, and said clients are duly appreciative.

fan clubBut, do you know who really appreciates what Realtors do?

Former Realtors.

At least a couple times a year, I run into former agents who tell me how much they enjoy having their evenings and weekends back, remember (non-nostalgically) the not-infrequent stress and aggravation, etc.

Self-Selection?

I suppose there is a bit of self-selection operating:  I’m pretty confident that the vast majority of active agents (myself included) don’t feel that way.

On the contrary, I chafed at all my previous “regular” jobs, and find that the challenges and rewards of real estate more than offset any negatives.

But, I do believe that you really don’t know what a Realtor’s life is like . . . until you’ve lived it for awhile.
