Did Straight-Line Winds Do That?

At first blush, it looks like straight-line winds damaged the second floor of this east-facing duplex in The Wedge.

tree_stumpAfter all, there’s a fresh tree stump on the south side of the property, indicating that last month’s storm came roaring through here.

But, upon closer examination, it’s apparent that the rest of the home is undamaged, and in fact, the tree fell to the south, not north onto the home.

Best guess?

The owner is in the process of converting an enclosed Porch into finished square feet.

P.S.:  One month-plus after the storm, the main after-effects in Minneapolis are hundreds of tree stumps and almost as many heaved sidewalks.
