Home Spotlight:  2025 Thomas Ave. South

I did a double-take when I saw the gleaming new home pictured on MLS (above) in Minneapolis’ Kenwood neighborhood, just northeast of Cedar Lake.

For one thing, the house sits high atop a hill, not a flat, smallish lot.

For another . . . there’s no house there!

I should know:  the lot has been empty ever since I sold the duplex that formerly sat on the site (see photo below), and the new owner tore it down, post-closing.

Then & Now

What gives?

The sale occurred in 2005, just as the market was peaking, and the Buyer/developer (apparently) went bust — or at least, took a very long hiatus.

Now, the lot is being marketed as “Stunning new construction w/extraordinary architectural details & exceptional finishes.  Every imaginable amenity included.”

Unless, of course, that’s not what the Buyer wants (or wants to pay for); the very next sentence on MLS says that the home will be “built to your specifications.”

P.S.:  the MLS photos are mostly stock shots of various types of new construction; it’s not clear whether they are actually homes that the builder/seller has constructed.
