The Pluses of Having Poor Friends (Just Not Too Poor)

Want to know why it’s better to have more poor friends than rich friends?

Rich friends are never around — or, if they are, are never free.

So, they’re at their cabin, on vacation out east, out west . . . or somewhere.

Or, if they’re in town, they have tickets to the play/concert/ballgame, or reservations at that hot new restaurant.

Poor friends?

They’re almost always around, bored — and available (just like you).

If you call them up to come over for pizza and a video that night, they’re highly likely to answer, “We’re there!”

P.S.:  So, why not too poor?

Then, you have to lend them money.

*Rich Man, Poor Man”  was one of the great TV miniseries; the (very) young Peter Strauss and Nick Nolte are terrific.

The year?

1976 (gulp!).
