Late Summer Housing Market:  Out With the Old (Realtor), In With the New(?)

With more long-in-the tooth listings set to expire as the end of Summer approaches, many frustrated (and not a few overpriced) would-be Sellers are contemplating a change in strategy — and Realtors.

mailboxHowever, successor Realtors looking to pick up such business need to be mindful of industry rules against soliciting homeowners currently under contract (technically, it constitutes tampering with the incumbent broker’s contract).

In a nutshell:  listed homeowners can contact agents; agents can’t contact homeowners.

For agents, call it the, “You can call me, I can’t call you” rule.

P.S.:  blanket Realtor mailings — which seem to be flooding many homeowners’ mailboxes these days (mine included) — are OK.
