What Does it Say About the Neighborhood?
Once you get over the initial shock that a meth lab was discovered — and busted — in tranquil Southwest Minneapolis last week, I suppose 
rational people could draw one of the following two (very different) conclusions:
One. Oh my God! Meth has now gotten so out of control that it’s even spread to peaceful, prosperous South Minneapolis (specifically, the Fulton neighborhood between Linden Hills and the Minnehaha Creek).
Two. It’s a sign of a good, cohesive neighborhood when people on the block uncover a local meth lab, involve the police, and get it shut down (how quickly, I don’t know — but having lived in the area not so long ago, I suspect “pretty”).
I’m going with conclusion #2 . . .
P.S.: The area my family moved to from Fulton — near Minneapolis’ Cedar Lake, a couple miles north — has a very active neighborhood list serve, watch group, etc. (one might even say “overactive,” judging by all my incoming emails 🙂 ).
