Hey! Isn’t That Age Discrimination??
I don’t know if my 8 year-old daughter was feeling patronized, but she raised a good point the other day at Barnes & Noble.
Namely, if bookstores can recommend books for young readers, why can’t they recommend books for middle-aged or old
(“mature”) readers?
Like, “For Readers 25 – 34.”
Or, “For Mature Readers: Age 70+.”
Hmm, I dunno . . .
P.S.: My daughter was giving me a hard time about enjoying Dan Gutman’s terrific series about baseball and time traveling (“Babe & Me,” “Jackie & Me,” “Honus & Me,” etc.).
Target audience: 12 year-old boys.
