Sign of Things to Come

I encountered my first ice dam contractor this winter earlier today, at a home I was previewing for clients.

icedam2But, I’m sure it won’t be my last.

Given the cold temp’s and abundant snowfall this Winter, lots of Twin Cities homeowners are probably candidates to have their roofs steamed between now and Spring.

Ounce of Prevention vs. . .  .

There are certainly other strategies — snow rakes and heated roof cables come to mind — but steaming the roof clean is the most surefire (if expensive) solution.

And all of the above are cheaper than repairing the damage wrought by ice dams.

That typically involves replacing damaged ceilings and sheetrock, adding/replacing insulation, re-painting, and possibly mold remediation.
