When it does it make sense to plunk down $1,000 on cleaning windows?
When you own a large, upper bracket home — in the Twin Cities, generally above $1 million — and it’s been sitting for months on the market without showings, let alone an offer.
In this case, the home is a 5 BR/5 Bath home in Edina’s Country Club neighborhood with over 5,500 finished square feet, great bones and character, and — yep — tons of dirty, double-hung windows.
In addition to having the windows cleaned, the Edina Realty agent — who took over the cancelled listing from another agent — also recommended re-painting some rooms, freshening up the decor, and re-staging the public rooms (Living, Dining, and Family Room).
P.S.: Actually replacing windows prior to sale is a different proposition.
In general, it doesn’t pay for the selling homeowner to do that.
However, if the window is no longer functional or fixable . . . they really have no choice.
