“Green” Way to Cure a Sick Lake? Freeze It

Spent part of yesterday enjoying the glorious weather at a friend’s birthday party in Apple Valley.

With the leaves gone, my friend’s view of Long Lake, which his property abuts, was clearly visible.

A very depleted Long Lake.

It turns out that the lake has had an aggressive algae problem.

The cure?

Drain it low enough that it will freeze solid this winter, completely killing the algae.
