No More Excuses for Missing That Spinning Class

“Imagine enjoying a courtside seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face to face ” just by putting on goggles in your home.”

–Mark Zuckerberg, “Facebook in $2 Billion Deal for Virtual Reality Company”; The New York Times (3/26/2014).

I confess, I didn’t get the appeal of instant messaging (?) company WhatsApp — which Facebook scooped up barely a month ago for an eye-popping $16 billion.

But, I do see why Facebook would make a play for Oculus VR, a pioneer in virtual reality software.

Personally, I’d pay a couple bucks to be able to go down to my basement, jump on my stationary bike, don a pair of virtual reality goggles and instantly join a spinning class.

Versus the 30-40 minutes transit time to get to and from my spendy health club.

Or not, at least the last few months . . . 🙂

P.S.:  If you’re going to use virtual reality for a spinning class, why not use it to swap your basement setting for something more glamorous?

In the photo above, the virtual cyclist appears to be in a loft looking down on the Chrysler building.

That would put him something like 120 stories high!
