Killing Three Birds With One Stone
Show me a 1940’s Colonial with an undersized garage, and I’ll show you a home with — very likely — too few Bathrooms, a shortage of storage space, a dingy, Basement laundry — and probably a few other, functionally obsolete features as well.
Which is why, if you’re going to remedy one of the above, it’s smart (not to mention efficient) to address multiple others as well.
Best guess is that that’s exactly what the homeowner near Cedar Lake is up to.
Specifically, in the photo above, the room in between the garage and home (with the window) is likely a combination Mud Room/First-floor Laundry . . . with extra storage space, and perhaps even a new one-half Bathroom, and an upgraded electrical service panel.
Call it an educated hunch (growing up in the neighborhood, I knew a previous owner of the home, but haven’t been inside the house in decades).
