So, Where Exactly is THAT??

Just because I’m not personally familiar with an acronym doesn’t mean it’s not widely known.

NokomisBut, I’m going to go out on a limb and venture that, if someone selling Minneapolis (and nearby) homes for 12 years has never heard of the term . . . at least a few other Realtors probably haven’t, either (never mind non-Realtors).

Which tells me that the acronym isn’t widely known — at least not yet.

In which case using it in a marketing pitch is likely to fall flat at best, and backfire at worst.

Exactly how unfamiliar is “HPDL?” (besides sounding like the latest, greatest version of high-def TV).

I looked up the address of the home discussed, and quickly realized that I’d literally sold a home on same the block and not heard the acronym.

Just to be sure, I also searched MLS for previous references or use of the term.

Results, going back 20 years and covering a couple hundred thousand Twin Cities listings:  exactly one — the “spectacular Tudor” in this blog’s headline.

What’s in a Name Acronym?

So, what does “HPDL” stand for?

“Hale-Page-Diamond Lake.”

Or, as it’s probably better known (at least for now):  ‘the neighborhood just west of Lake Nokomis’ (which is lovely and really is coveted).
