The Half-Full Glass

Yes, Amazonian heat and humidity — plus record-setting downpours — are taking a toll on Twin Citians this Summer (nice alliteration, huh?).

So, who has this weather been especially kind to?

Here’s my list:

–Local dry cleaners (no chance of wearing my dress shirts more than one day in this heat and humidity);

–Retailers selling air conditioners and dehumifidiers (assuming they have them in stock);

–Contractors installing (and cleaning) gutters on homes that got water in last weekend’s torrential rain (installing gutters — and keeping them clean — are one of the best ways to make sure basements stay dry).

–Area water parks.

–Ice cream and “smoothie” vendors like Ben & Jerry’s, Dairy Queen, Jamba Juice and anyone else selling anything cold and refreshing (healthy or not).

–Movie theatres:  two-plus hours of free a/c! (kind of).

Now, there just needs to be a decent movie aimed at someone other than 15 year-old boys (see my review of the new Harry Potter movie).
